mark-h Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 This maybe isn't a bug but something that seems to be unnecessarily getting in the way none of the less. When I render Blender's freestyle line art as an SVG file Affinity Designer won't open it. It says the filetype isn't supported. The problem seems to be that the SVGs start with an <?xml> tag. If I remove that they open fine. So there's a workaround but it's a bit of a pain when working with many files. I don't know if this is a very unique scenario or if other SVG files may pose this problem as well. Either way it would be nice to not have this speed bump. Cheers, Mark Quote
Dan C Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 Hi @mark-h, Thanks for your report! I can confirm that this is due to the SVG file using encoding='ascii', rather than the expected encoding="utf-8" format. This is a known issue which is logged with our developers to be resolved in a future update, I'll be sure to 'bump' this report with your thread now to bring it to our teams attention once again. Unfortunately I'm not aware of a workaround within Affinity that does not require either removing this line, or replacing ascii with utf-8, my apologies. (I'm not personally au fait with Blender, but you may be able to change the SVG export settings to generate a utf-8 file?) I hope this clears things up Quote
