Hello,

For several months, I was able to use AP V2 without any issue. The last time used it was in December '22/January '23.

This week I tried to use it. When I received an  update notice, I went ahead update to Affinity Photo v2.0.4, but it keep hanging upon start.

I uninstalled, re-download, and re-install it and the issue persists.

I still have Affinity Photo v1 and it works just fine.

Can you please help?

Hi @WebZeus and welcome to the forums,

Two things you can try...

A factory reset
Hold down the Ctrl Key when launching Affinity Photo and when the Clear User Data dialogue window appears, leave the first three items checked and click Clear, then see if Photo launches without issue.

Note: A factory reset will reset any UI and tool customisation changes you may have made back to their original settings. If holding the Ctrl key and selecting Affinity Photo from the dock then you will have to select Open from the pop up menu.

mru.dat file deletion
Delete the mru.dat file from the Application Support folder located here...

/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Affinity Photo 2/mru.dat

Let us know whether either of these options remedy the issue you're experiencing.

Affinity Designer 2.6.2 (3213) Beta | Affinity Photo 2.6.2 (3213) Beta | Affinity Publisher 2.6.2 (3213) Beta

Thank you! Deleting the mru.dat file works, but not the factory reset procedure.

Hi @WebZeus,

Good to know and glad you are back up and running...

the mru.dat file issue is a known bug in 2.0.4 but sometimes hangs like you were experiencing have been fixed using the factory reset so it was difficult to know which was the source of the issue...
