Hello. I am putting a small book together for the first time. The end result should be 125mm x 88mm. I am trying to figure out the bleed and margin dimensions for this end result but I can't seem to find references for anything smaller 4.25in x 7in. Can anyone provide a reference or offer some advice on how to determine the bleed and margin dimensions? I would appreciate it very much, thank you.

The Margins would be whatever you require for your design, I think. They are within the physical page, and so the printing company should not care about what you use.

The Bleed would be whatever your printing company requires, so ask them.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't gone to any printers yet, but I was hoping to prepare the files accordingly before hand. Is there a minimum or maximum for the bleed? Also, for the margins, they can be whatever I need them to be, correct? Thank you again.

The Bleed is part of the printed paper that will be trimmed off. A general (rule of thumb) size is 3 mm or 1/8th of an inch. You can make it larger but then the paper size would need to be larger which means higher cost simply to produce more waste.

Set it for 1/8th of an inch. If necessary you can increase it later once you have found your printer/print shop. Changing the Bleed won't have any effect on the layout of the book.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.2
Affinity Designer 2.3.1 | Affinity Photo 2.3.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.3.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Excellent, thank you.
