I'm going to have angry words. I'sorry for that.
I was very excited when Affinity Publisher 2 came out. I bought it with Photo and Designer. But I quickly became disillusioned.
I lay out scientific works with numerous footnotes and sometimes long tables.
The result in Publisher is catastrophic for footnotes. I get numberless aberrations. It makes you wonder if the designers of the software carried out extensive testing before putting the software on the market.
As for long tables, Publisher is simply unable to accept them. It is impossible to lay out a table longer than one page.
Here I am very disappointed and forced to go back to ... InDesign.

It would help to have some specifics about your footnote problems. Perhaps you could post in Questions, and provide some specific examples with screenshots and (if possible) a sample .afpub file that demonstrates your issues. It is possible that you've found a bug, but it is also possible (given the complexity) that you've set them up incorrectly. But without more information we can't tell.

As for Tables: Yes, that is a long-standing issue, with many discussions and requests for improvement.
