Mask Will Be Removed When the First Brush Stroke Is Undone

Recommended Posts

Expected Behaviour:

I create a new mask and make my first stroke, which I'm not happy with. I press Ctrl+Z to undo the stroke, the mask remains and I can start with an empty mask.

Current Behaviour:

I create a new mask and make my first stroke, which I'm not happy with. I press Ctrl+Z to undo the stroke, but the mask is also undone. I have to add a new mask every time I want to undo the first stroke. It's like I'm hitting Ctrl+Z twice, but I'm not.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create a layer.
  2. Add mask to it. (Tested with Mask, not Empty Mask or Compound Mask, since I want to work with a regular Mask in that instance.)
  3. Make a brush stroke.
  4. Hit Ctrl+Z.

Bug or by design?

Workaround for now: Create an Empty Mask and in the next step invert it.

Check your Assistant settings. I think there's a new one (near the top?) for undoing multiple parts of a complex action at the same time.

Thanks Walt, that's it! Second checkbox from the top.

Hm, although it's a bit strange that you actually have to turn this off for this to work as you'd normally expect. Or am I the only one who expects the mask to stay there?
