This was behavior I noticed in V1 and V2. This is not easy to reproduce but it seems to happen when the layer is toward the bottom of the screen and the dialog/menu displays below the bottom of the monitor. When it scrolls, sometimes it comes up either empty or it flickers as it scrolls. Sometimes it just pops up empty until you move the mouse.

Mac Mini Intel, OS X 10.15.7.

The next time it happens could you please take a full screen capture? It wouldn't show the flickering but it would show the blank menu in context of your studio setup. Press Cmd+Shift+5 and choose the left icon to capture the entire screen.

I couldn't yet get the menu to show up blank (probably needs a long session of editing to incur the same memory-related issues I've been seeing in other items) but this is the flickering. See bottom right.

I can't duplicate that but this is likely a bug in macOS and not in Affinity. The rendering of the menu is entirely up to macOS - the app merely adds menu items to a menu object and then asks macOS to draw it. Affinity has no control over the scrolling of the menu.

It's the only app where I see this happening.

Hi orangefizz,

Are you able to recreate this if you change metal rendering to openGL (Affinity Photo > Settings > Performance > Display > )

Yes that fixed it—in fact, that was suggested as a reason for another laggy behavior I reported and it seems to have fixed that too. I tried both OpenGL and Software, both seem to have the same effect. Thanks.
