MaxDor Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Hi, Is there a way to add to a pre-existing selection using the pen tool in affinity photo? Let's say I want to refine a pre-existing selection and need to use the pen tool for that. Can I convert the curve the pen tool created into a selection that is added (or substracted) to/from my pre-existing selection? Thanks a lot! Quote
GarryP Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Welcome to the forums @MaxDor You can use the Polygon method within the Freehand Selection Tool – with the Mode set to Add – to add new straight-sided areas to an existing selection. Alternatively, with the Pen Tool selected, and a curve drawn and selected, you can press the Selection button on the Context Toolbar to convert that curve to a Selection but it cannot, as far as I know, be added to the existing selection this way. Alternatively, you can make your selection, save the selection to a Spare Channel (via menu “Select → Save Selection → As Spare Channel), then make the selection with the Pen Tool as above and then right-click on the saved Spare Channel (in the Channels Panel) and choose Add to Pixel Selection (or Subtract From Pixel Selection). You can then delete the Spare Channel if it’s no longer needed. There are probably other methods. Old Bruce 1 Quote
