jackamus Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 When referring to the explanation of 'Tools' in Affinity Help why not show the tool's icon for easier identification? I had to hover over each tool icon in order to find the Measuring Tool. Quote If voting made any difference it wouldn't be allowed! Rules are for the guidance of wise men and the obedience of fools. GarryP Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 As you can see in my attached video it’s pretty obvious (to me anyway) what the tool looks like as the icon is shown. Can you tell us what you were searching for, how you were searching for it, and what you found? 2023-04-18 09-01-01.mp4 Quote
jackamus Posted April 18, 2023 Author Posted April 18, 2023 I see what you mean but that is not what I saw. I'll try and reconstruct my search. I was looking to see it you could selectively lock guides. Help >Index>Couldn't see where to find info on guides. Help>Guides> comes up referring to View menu. Nothing about how to selectively lock guides. Back to Help. Help>Search for guides>Measuring (I just wanted to know what it said) that is when I saw there was no Icon for the measuring tool and posted my comment. I still want to know if guides can be selectively locked and if not why not as it could be a valuable feature. Quote If voting made any difference it wouldn't be allowed! All the usual reasons, probably. There are probably hundreds, or thousands, or millions of things that "could be a valuable feature" and only so much time to develop and maintain the software. GarryP Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 The stuff about guides is being discussed in a different thread. I think this thread should stick to being about whatever the issue with the Help is. 3 hours ago, jackamus said: Help >Index>Couldn't see where to find info on guides. What is “Help>Index”? 3 hours ago, jackamus said: Help>Guides> comes up referring to View menu. Nothing about how to selectively lock guides. Going to the Help and searching for guides gives various links, the first of which is “Ruler and column guides” which tells you all (well maybe not all) about guides. 3 hours ago, jackamus said: Help>Search for guides>Measuring (I just wanted to know what it said) that is when I saw there was no Icon for the measuring tool and posted my comment. The Measure Tool icon is shown next to the section on the Measure Tool in the “Measuring” page (that’s the page linked to via the “Measuring” link on the results you get from searching for guides and then scrolling down to “Measuring”) see attached image.
