KidKimeUK Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 Hi, first post here! I've been using affinity photo for about 18 months now (a convert from PS!) but it is ALWAYS freezing and crashing on my, running it on my laptop. My laptop specs are: Intel Core i7 16GB Ram Windows 10 Home The file that keeps crashing recently is 3088kb and contains around 15 layers at 3500px square - my AP is version 1.10.6.1665 I'm pulling my hair out! Are my specs not good enough to be editing a very simple file? Quote
Dan C Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Hi @KidKimeUK, Welcome to the Affinity Forums Sorry to hear you're having trouble with Affinity - can you please navigate to Edit > Preferences > Performance within the app and provide a screenshot of your settings here for me? Many thanks in advance! Quote

Dan C Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Many thanks for providing that for me! Firstly I'd recommend ensure that your Nvidia GTX 1650TI drivers are fully up-to-date, directly from Nvidias website. During the driver installation you can perform a 'clean install' to remove any conflicting drivers, as outlined here - https://help.bethesda.net/#en/answer/57037 Once you have performed this clean install, restart your PC and try editing your documents in Affinity once again. Secondly, If you find the app continues to crash following this, I'd recommend unticking Hardware Acceleration at the bottom of this dialog, then restart the app as prompted. Finally, it may help to force Affinity to use your 1650TI within Windows settings, as your device may 'switch' between the Nvidia GPU and Intel GPU depending on if a power source is connected etc. You can find out how to do this here - I hope this helps Quote
