The best method depends on colors and patterns you want make transparent. in case you want to keep only the black shapes and make everything else transparent, it is only one action: go to blend range of the layer, and move the right node down and left so that black is still opaque, but all brighter colors vanish. Then move left node to the right, to get a Z like shape, but with 90 degree angles.
