pioneer Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 I am trying to create a style of a red background with black dots within a rectangle that I can export as a png, then bring in as a bitmap as a gradient fill to save as a style, sadly I cannot seem to achieve a seamless effect within the created style. Any suggestions would be most helpful. I hope I have explained the situation ok. Cheers John Quote AMD Ryzen 7 5800 X. v_kyr Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 Define seamless here and maybe show some screenshots of what the expected seamless result should look like. - When you created a bitmap style out of your rect with black dots, style size and the setup gradient bitmap handle orientation plays a role here, also when reusing that style on some shape objects. You always have to adjust it accordingly (handles) when you reuse the style. StuartRc Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 Hi Create a seamless pattern using a container rectangle for the dots. Then you can also make use of the asset to fill and scaling options Quote Affinity Version 1 (10.6) Affinity Version 2.6.0 All (Designer | Photo | Publisher) Beta; 2.6.2.3187 OS:Windows 10 Pro 22H2 OS Build 19045.5371+ Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19060.1000.0 Rig:AMD FX 8350 and AMD Radeon (R9 380 Series) Settings Version 21.04.01 Radeon Settings Version 2020 20.1.03) + Wacom Intuous 4M with driver 6.3.41-1

StuartRc Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 A bit vague...Sorry! I worked on some of these as grunge comic overlays. The originals are on artboard 01. I just recoloured the base container to red. Export as PNG. In the assets are the 4 files. Just drag the asset to the fill swatch on the context bar and rescale using fill tool on selected rectangle on artboard 3 The containing rectangle controls the scale | seamless; The pattern the effect...good for vintage comic overlays. v_kyr Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 BTW one of the easiest ways to setup, generate and build custom reusable patterns is the SVG route, which you can then reuse in Affinity apps and of course also save as bitmaps for building styles. - See therefor ... 6 Clever SVG Pattern Generators for Your Next UX Design https://10015.io/tools/svg-pattern-generator https://heropatterns.com/ http://iros.github.io/patternfills/ https://pattern.monster/ ... and so on ...
