Ferriero Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 I made a document with Affinity Publisher 2. After saving and closing it, I duplicated it and gave it a different name. Unfortunately, however, now I can't work with it because both the original and the duplicate suddenly close after a few seconds of opening. What can I do? Thank you Quote
MikeTO Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 Hi. Are you able to make new documents, save them, and re-open them? Are you able to open other documents you've previously made? i.e., is it just this one document? Are you able to share the file here so one of us can test it? Are there any linked resources? If so, rename the folder(s) containing the resources or the resources themselves and then try opening the document. If it opens okay do not relink the resources or use the Resource Manager. Instead delete the resources manually by going to the page and selecting them. Re-place the resources and then save the document. If there are hundreds, this may be more trouble than it's worth. Have you enrolled for the beta? If so, you could try opening it in the beta to see if it works in that version. One last time, you could start Publisher while holding down Ctrl (press it immediately after clicking the app icon) and then clearing your user data. That might solve a problem. Ferriero Posted April 12, 2023 Author Posted April 12, 2023 HI! 11 hours ago, MikeTO said: is it just this one document? Yes! In the document I have two connected images. I fixed it by renaming the images before opening the app. Upon opening it asked me to reconnect them. Out of curiosity, I did the same thing again: I closed the app, duplicated the document, reopened the original document. Result, the app closes unexpectedly. So I preferred to embed the images since they are small. Request? What is the best solution if I have to insert heavier images? Thanks again! Quote

Could you zip up the afpub file and the 2 linked images and either attach it here or upload it to our Dropbox here and i'll see if i can replicate the crash with your files and get something logged with the Developers Quote
Ferriero Posted April 12, 2023 Author Posted April 12, 2023 Unfortunately (or fortunately!) I tried to reproduce the previous situation but since I embed the images the same problem no longer occurs. So I don't know if the files will help you at this point. Quote

I have hundreds of TIFF images in my book and have no issues but I know some people who have linked documents (typically afdesign, pdf, or svg) have had issues like you're experiencing.
