I'm using the above beta version of Pub2 because of the volatility in handling Books -- as described in a number of threads. I was told that the beta release had cured many of the crashing problems. And it has -- but not all.

But I could deal with that, frustrating but workable, if the page numbering worked as I expected. The attached test files illustrate a three chapter book with Endnotes at the end of the book. The Figure and Endnote numbering work across the chapters such that the exported PDF looks as I expect in that respect. What doesn't work is the final page number. In my example I have 'page X of Y pages' on each page. When I export to PDF I get a last page number that is different for every page. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?

As for the crashing, if anyone took my test files and played around with them ie added a chapter, added endnotes or figures, I can almost guarantee that the Beta Pub2 will crash; I'm getting this every few minutes using Books, whereas when I don't use Books it's fine. Sorry I can't find a repeat sequence to show you, it currently appears to be random crashes.

Thanks for any help.

Books is potentially a really powerful feature, and one I'd certainly make a lot of use of.

But having played around with test files, Pub2 Beta continues to hang or crash when I try to do the simplest things. It's currently hanging when I try to export the files above as PDF. It's not trustworthy as a platform for my books which have 10 or so chapters.

I'd really value any Affinity moderator help on this.

the crashing is logged and I think if you're trying to reference the total number of pages in a book you'll need to use a cross reference to an anchor on the last page to gerneate that page number.

The issue "Book crashing on export to PDF" (REF: AFB-7606) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.1.0.1790".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.
