How do I change the default font for Affinity Designer 2? I'd like to know for both individual image files and for the universal settings for Affinity Designer, if there is a way to change the font settings for each.

You can try editing the Base Text Style and then using the “Save Styles as Default” menu item as shown in my attached screen-grab.

As for the “for both individual image files” bit of your statement, I don’t know what you mean.

Oh, wow. i think that might be what I want!  Could you tell me how you got to that menu/set of options?

(And if I did that and then went though all the images/files that I created for a project that I want to use a particular fort for and set the style to base, that will solve my problem , right?   (problem that I keep forgetting to change the font, every time I add a bit of text to one of my images)  . . or i might have to do select-all and then reset everything to base and that would solve it, right?)

Just follow the red arrows in Garry's screenshot, and click where they're pointing.

Another option modifies the text formatting which is used as default and when [No Style] gets assigned. To modify this default create a text with the wanted style, then choose menu  Edit > Defaults > Synchronise from Selection and then menu  Edit > Defaults > Save.
