romain
Hi, It would be great to have a background blur effect, like in Sketch. It's very useful for iOS design. Thanks.

Staff MEB Posted July 28, 2017 Staff Share Posted July 28, 2017 Hi romain, Ecnerwal, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Affinity Designer doesn't have a dynamic background blur effect and can only simulate it through the FX Gaussian Blur, but it's possible to create it in Affinity Photo applying a live blur filter to the whole image then dragging a vector shape layer over the thumbnail of the filter layer in the layers panel to limit its effect to the shape area. You can then move/edit the shape selecting the shape layer (not the filter layer it's nested to). See example attached below (the file can be opened and edited in Designer even if you don't own Affinity Photo). background_blur.afphoto Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Ecnerwal
Thanks, in meantime decided to export picture to desktop and dropped it into pixelmator, highlighted area for blur and used their blur effects. Find some of the basics are not easy to,use in Affinity. Will try your method. Many thanks.
