Can we not apply a target on document URL links in Publisher 2?

Recommended Posts

Putting together an small PDF ebook that has URL links to external sites. I can make links, but unless I'm losing my mind, is it not possible to apply a _blank target to links? Makes sense if someone is reading through your PDF in a browser window and wants to click on a link, but you don't want them to lose their place in the document. Links by default are loading the new location to replace the open PDF in a browser view.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

As you're only supplying a URL, not actual HTML, I think you're right that there's no way to supply a target of _blank. That might make a good Feature Request for the Feedback section if it hasn't been requested already.

In mitigation of that missing function, most readers probably understand their browsers well enough to know how to use keyboard modifiers to open links in a new window or tab, or how to use the browser's Back function if they open in the same window/tab. Or how to use the browser's right-click options. Or how to copy a link, open a new window/tab, and paste in the link.
