Grouped Artboards get Ignored

Recommended Posts

They do not show in the export of "all" of the artboards if the group is moved. :(

Is being able to group artboards intentional? as trying to move a group with artboards ignores the group and moves just the artboard?

Exporting all artboards also ignores any layers you might have under the artboards which would be pretty cool to have, right now I have an image of a store layout that I need to make graphic designs for, I have an artboard for each spot which makes it easy to visualize.

Hi EzBaze,

This seems to be working fine for me please could you provide a copy of your project file so I can try this here at my end? Please could you also tell me which export settings you are using?

Thanks

Your video shows that you are using an altered Preset to export and that there is a caution symbol on the slices panel.

Plus you would need to make a slice out of the Grouped pair or a slice of all three artboards. In my opinion you are getting what you actually requested, a PNG of "Artboard1" which is overwritten by the next two exports named "Artboard1". Your Background slice is most likely the result of making an Artboard smaller than the original sized canvas when you first used the Artboard tool.

Watched it several times. I don't quite know what it is that you are wanting. Three PNGs? Four? The Group?

Try selecting all the slices in the slices panel and using a Preset for them. Open the Layers panel and make a slice from the Group.

Grouped / Moved Artboards, doesn't update the blue rectangle

Ungrouped layers - updates the blue rectangle:

Moving layers while ungrouped - Updates rectangle:

Moving Artboards while grouped - doesn't update blue rectangle (Deos weird stuff) :

Have you tried this with any actual "stuff" in or on the artboards?

Hearts grouped by colour for organisation

Now lets say i want to move the red ones:

image.png.ea5c519016fafa53f7ab6d80c5663ef4.png

Okay now we go to export all of them:

image.thumb.png.9c628e8b0d21dcc390dc9fedb5c830d3.png

And they don't show in the export :(

It's clearly a bug or you are not supposed to group artboards ( i don't see why wouldn't that be a good thing )

Could well be a Windows bug because I don't see this sort of thing on the Mac. Also I should point out that I don't work this way. I do use multiple Artboards but I see no need to group them so it could also be showing up on the Mac, just not yet for me.

Or, I could well be wrong. There is some sort of weird stuff happening with moving a grouped set of Artboards outside the original canvas size and or the starting 0, 0 location. The Arboards need to be grouped for this to occur, moving a pair of them is fine. The File > Export works fine however.

Yes, you can nest arboards instead to organise stuff, but the grouping looks cleaner than nesting artboards

Group:

Nested Artboards, addded in using Artboard Tool -> Insert By Selection:

Which then if you want to move it:

it doesn't automaticly place the selected artboards into the newly created artbaord, you have to do it manualy :(

What a great test job. What patience.

The other day I created some slices to export and after I did I realised I had may a mistake. Went back in and correct it, went to Export Persona but the error was still there. Realised that the slices needed to be deleted and recreated to include the corrected data.
