Hello,

Having a problem with Affinity Phot 2.  I am unable to select the output type in the develop persona.  The field is greyed out???  This was working before but not now.  Maybe since the last update xxxx.4 ???  Is this a known problem or ....

Most likely you have selected Apple instead of Serif in the Develop Assistant's Raw Engine.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Why doesn't it work with the Apple Color Engine? Are there understandable reasons for this?

When developing RAW images non-destructively, each time you re-enter the Develop Persona the image is re-developed using the RAW engine.

As the Apple Core RAW engine is only available on macOS, if an Affinity Photo user was to non-destructively develop a RAW file on macOS, then save the .afphoto file and open it on Windows, the app would be unable to re-enter the Develop Persona with this RAW as the engine is not available - therefore the option is only enabled for the Serif Labs engine, as this is available on all OS's that Affinity supports :)
