GenewalDesign Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 I often use clipping masks in my illustrations, and the default behavior of Affinity Designer when creating layers needs some options. I have a first layer, and a second layer within the first. I want to create more layers within the first, but every time I create a new one (shape, curve...) it gets on the top of the layer list. I thought clicking on the second layer before creating a new one would force AD to create it below or above the selected layer, no. This behaviour is not exclusive to clipping masks : every new created layer is placed on top of the layer list. Once my shape is created, I have to manually select it and drag it at the desired place in the layer list. And if I have LOTS of layers, i'm losing too much time reordering my layers. Maybe with a shortcut or a checkbox, the idea would be to force AD to create the new layer above or under a selected layer in the list. Quote
Staff Callum Posted March 30, 2023 Staff Posted March 30, 2023 Hi GenewalDesign, Do the buttons found in the following help article help with this at all? https://affinity.help/designer2/English.lproj/index.html?page=pages/ObjectControl/target.html?title=Targeting objects Thanks C GenewalDesign 1 Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
GenewalDesign Posted March 30, 2023 Author Posted March 30, 2023 Hi Callum, After a few tries, it seems to fulfill my needs. This help section should be added in the "See Also" in "Creating layers" of help. I already searched in the AD menu but not in the right place. Thanks for your help! Quote
