Hi all,

Maybe a dumb question… ?

I have a PDF that includes a bunch of typos I don't have.

The resolution is good so I decided to open it in .afphoto and told the app :

image.png.8353280151debb7e3a4e9fb0f03e664d.png

I thought I would get a simple pixel rasterized version of the file but I do not…

When I open the PDF in Preview app, all is good, and I could convert to jpeg, but I would like to do the same with Affinity if I could ?

How can I tell .afphoto to open the rasterized version of a PDF ?

Thanks.

Hi @laurent32,

When opening a PDF document in Affinity, the file will always be parsed through the PDF importer and will open with layers present where possible - unfortunately there's no option to force the app to 'Open' a rasterised version.

However if you wish for the PDF to be rasterised, you could create a new document and use File > Place to introduce the PDF to the file. This will be placed by default using 'Passthrough' mode (set on the context toolbar) which means that Affinity does not fully parse/convert the PDF and attempts to render it as 'true' as possible.

With your placed PDF in Passthrough mode in your Affinity document, you can then right-click this layer and select Rasterise to convert the doc to a Pixel layer, essentially giving the same results as opening a 'rasterised' PDF.

I hope this helps!
