80sTherapy Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 (edited) Hello, Layman here. I am trying to recreate a font-based logo with shapes but can't figure out is how to create the curved part of the "f". Adding to the difficulty is that the curved part of the "f" is thinner than the base. Really not sure how to do this. Any help appreciated. Cheers Edited March 28, 2023 by 80sTherapy Quote
v_kyr Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 (1) One way would be, to use the donut shape tool and .... Create the above shown white segment part, filling it with black Next converting that shape segment part into plain curves ("Layer ->Convert to Curves" aka "Cmd-/Ctrl-Return") Then switch over to the Node tool and adjust it (alter nodes accordingly) to your needs, so it looks like you finally want At the end you can combine (geometrical add) all selected parts which form the "f" together, into just one curves layer if wanted, or group them all together (2) An alternative way is, to trace the white segment manually with the Pen tool so it follows it's form as a closed path and fill that with black. Afterwards manipulate the curvation as needed with the Node tool. - Or to draw a width matching rectangle shape, convert that into curves and manipulate it's side lines (curving them) and nodes as needed with the Node tool. (3) Another way, if you have some image/bitmap template for the "f" char how it should look like, is to just use a tracer/vectorizer in order to generate a curves vector representation (layout) of the "f" form you need, which you can then customize further on demand (if needed) with the ADe Node tool ...
