Error "The file contains features from a newer Affinity version" even though the file was created in V2

Recommended Posts

After closing and only some minutes later trying to reopen a file the I have been working on, I got the Error message "The file contains features from a newer Affinity version". The file has been created using Affinity Designer V2 and has only ever been edited using V2.

Any possibility to get the file to open again? There's more than 10h of work in this and I have no backup...🤦🏻‍♂️

Thanks in advance!

Your file opens OK in the V2 Beta

I would suggest you download and use that

Be advised you have a corrupt pdf file showing in Resource Manager of having a file size of 0px X 0px

Once you open the file delete that layer in the layers panel and reload it from the original source (if still needed)

The pdf is called Bodenprofil_6-1.pdf

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

Thanks a lot for the tip with the Beta version, I ended up copy and pasting the layers (except for the corrupted pdf) from the 2.1 Beta to the current version (2.0.4) though, because I'll need this document to be useable by others in my company. Just deleting the corrupted layer and saving didn't make it work with the current version, but this did the trick. 👍

Hi @chrysenteron,

Welcome to the Affinity Forums :)

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with this document and I'm glad to hear you've been able to recover the contents!

I can confirm that our team believe the cause of this issue has been resolved in the 2.1 beta, meaning it should not occur for new documents created in 2.1, which we hope to release to retail in due course.

We hope that you shouldn't encounter this again but should you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask :)
