Gary9450 Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 (edited) I create card stock model buildings in Affinity Designer V2. Here is my problem: I create an object such as a building wall, and add/adjust some attributes. Then I take that object/file into Affinity Photo V2 (by using "Edit in Photo") to adjust colors, etc. Afterward, I take it back into Designer. But now the object/file loses all of the changes I made in Photo! Why?! What do I need to do to keep the changes/additions I made in Photo without losing them when I return the object/file to Designer? Note: The same problem occurs when I use Copy/Paste instead of Edit in Photo and Edit in Designer. Edited March 26, 2023 by Gary9450 Mistakenly wrote Photo twice in Title Quote
Old Bruce Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 Are you saving the file, and thus the edits, while in Photo? Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
Gary9450 Posted March 26, 2023 Author Posted March 26, 2023 No, I haven't been saving it. After editing it in Photo, I've used either "Edit in Designer" or Copy & Paste to transfer the file back to Designer. Are you suggesting that saving the file in Photo, then opening it in Designer will keep the changes I make? I'll give it a try. Thanks. Quote

It shouldn't be necessary, but it can sometimes be useful in case the transfer from one application to the other fails. In your case, it's puzzling that it didn't work. But perhaps you could share a document or at least some screenshots of Photo before you do the Edit in Designer and what you see when you're back in Designer. Gary9450 Posted March 26, 2023 Author Posted March 26, 2023 ferrell, Ever try to duplicate a problem you're having and now, suddenly, the problem has gone away? Anyhow, I just tried doing exactly what I explained in my original post, and nothing went wrong!! I did the entire process three times and every time it came out with No problems! I apologize for wasting your time, and I am extremely grateful for your help. Now, all I can do is hope the problem doesn't return. I'd like to mention that ever since I began using Affinity Photo and Designer in 2017, this problem has been consistently happening every time until today. But if it comes back, I'm not going to post about it. Thank you ferrell. walt.farrell 1 Quote
