ladybug119 Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 Hi!! How do I do something like the vanishing point filter in Photoshop but in Affinity Designer? Like blend something with a surface so it automatically bends and conforms omit and looks like it's part of it? I am making a label and want the text and graphics seem like they have actually been printed on the label. Quote
Staff Callum Posted March 22, 2023 Staff Posted March 22, 2023 Hi Ladybug119, I'm not sure if i understand exactly what you are looking for however if you are trying to apply a label to an object such as a bottle etc you should be able to use a warp group on your label with a perspective warp and manipulate the nodes until your design conforms with the bottle. You can find a crude example of this attached to this thread. You will likely find the results look far more realistic with a more realistic looking label. You may also find the following help article handy. https://affinity.help/designer2/English.lproj/index.html?page=pages/ObjectControl/warp.html?title=Warping objects Thanks C GoodBier.afdesign Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
ladybug119 Posted March 22, 2023 Author Posted March 22, 2023 (edited) No sorry I just need the text and graphics that I put on the label to look like they belong there they are printed there like it's on paper, not like I have put the on the label on a computer, do you get it? Just imagine buying a jam jar at the store and picture how the label looks, I need to make the text and graphics seem like that not like I have just downloaded some images and put them on the label just drag and drop. Can you give us a picture that shows something else that looks like you're trying to create? I'm having a hard time visualizing what you're describing. ladybug119 Posted March 22, 2023 Author Posted March 22, 2023 https://www.creativefabrica.com/product/jam-jar-mockup-3/ I am giving you two examples. Look at the label, look how the text and images are part of the label and not just a colored rectangle with some images on top of it. Any way ton do that except blending modes and warping? walt.farrell 1 Quote

Are you asking for details in warping & colouring? Note that warping gets more natural if the centre part is less stretched than the right/left parts. Also the light matters, for instance more bright in the centre, respectively darker to the left/right edges. Imagine the red lines being closer, as if zoomed in, which increases their distance to each other – while the black lines are more in the background what makes them appear smaller. For more top view you would additionally warp vertically. ladybug119 1 Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1

For ADe and vectors there isn't an exact direct place in form/shape counterpart like the PS vanishing point filter, you would have to warp the label accordingly on the surface where you want to take that place: Warping objects In APh there are for pixels/bitmaps/images the perspective- and mesh warp tools for such tasks via pixel layers: Perspective Tool Mesh Warp Tool ladybug119 1 Quote ☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan ☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2
ladybug119 Posted March 22, 2023 Author Posted March 22, 2023 All right, thanks for the replies, I will just do it manually then warp and everything as good as I can. Quote
