Printing orientation doesn't match page setup

Recommended Posts

I had my art board set to portrait and created the layout on it. When I went to print it half of the image was missing, and was oriented to landscape. I flipped the art board to landscape, and on screen the image also rotated, then it printed correctly.

Can't understand why that happened

Hi @Connie S and welcome to the forums...

Which printer are you printing too, usually you have to set the orientation via the print dialogue window, so you would need to ensure you've selected portrait in the print dialogue window and likewise for landscape prior to printing... hopefully your print dialogue window shows a print preview?

So, am I right to assume your print dialogue window showed your portrait file correctly orientated in the print dialogue window, i.e., as portrait but it still printed in landscape?

That is a bit of a mystery...

Can I ask which printer you are printing to and would you be able to post a screengrab of your print dialogue window... I've just been looking at every option in the dialogue windows for both my printers and I can't physically find any way to make that happen on purpose so I'm wracking my brain to think what could cause that to happen...

  • 1 year later...

I have a somewhat similar situation. Every time I go to print using the print command the orientation of the document in the preview is wrong and I have to manually reset it. At first it was almost comical but it's become kind of annoying. Is there anyway I can get this to work better?

I'm using OS Catalina and sending to an Epsom printer.

Thanks,

David
