bernieraffe Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 (edited) Fairly new to Affinity Photo and I can't get this seemingly simple action to work. According to the various tutorials, I should be able to make my selection, 'Copy' and then 'Paste' the selection onto a new image. Althogh I can easily paste the selection on to the Source image, but when I go to the Destination mage, the 'Paste' menu is disabled, and so all I get is a beep. Using Affinity photo 2 Any help appreciated, thanks. Edited March 19, 2023 by bernieraffe added more info Quote
Ron P. Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 Is your source selection an Image or Pixel Image? The latter, being Rasterized. Could you post a screenshot that includes the Layer stack, of Both images so we can have a look at why it's not working? Or perhaps attach the afphoto files? bernieraffe Posted March 19, 2023 Author Posted March 19, 2023 Hi, thanks for the reply, I don't know how to determine the selection type, and I have not created any layers, but here's the exact sequence of events 1. Opening a .DNG file exported from my iPhone 13 (RAW) file 2. Image is way too dark (which often happens when I open a RAW file), so I just lighten it in the develop mode, exit Develop mode 3. I make a selection and am able to copy and paste it into the same image (same Ctrl C / Ctrl V) 4. Open a file copy of the original image, repeat 1 and 2 above. 5. Paste is disabled I tried this again with a different second image, and the paste was enabled this time, so it looks as though the problem is that I'm using a file copy of the same image. The reason for using 2 of the same image is that there is a small area exposed completely differently from the rest of the image, and it seemed an easy solution to adjust that area and paste it into the second image. Probably a convoluted way of doing it, so I'll try a different way. Quote
Staff Callum Posted March 19, 2023 Staff Posted March 19, 2023 Hi Bernieraffe, From the steps you provided it sounds as though it should be working. If possible could you provide a screen recording showing this workflow just so I can check for anything that might be going wrong? Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
bernieraffe Posted March 20, 2023 Author Posted March 20, 2023 I restarted my computer (Mac mini M1), and the issue seems to have gone away. Thanks for your help though Quote
