Is there a way of producing text that looks like it been written in the sand please? Cheers John

As @wim pointed out, it will be easier to take a photo than to create it on the screen if realism is desired. If not, maybe effects will suffice for a rough layout, at least faster than moving heaps of pixels.

I added a text layer on top of the background sand image and set the layer blend mode to ‘Soft Light’. I then duplicated the text layer, added an ‘Inner Shadow’ layer effect to the lower copy, and adjusted the parameters (opacity, intensity, radius, angle, and offset) until I got this result:
