edee Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Win10/ADv2 This is driving me nuts. I select several different curves or groups to group into a bigger group. I hold down ctrl + G and suddenly a piece that I was trying to group goes flying away from the group. It does group, but it moves up. Sometimes just an inch or so, other times it moves right off the artboard. It happens so often I've been able to capture it several times. How do I get it to stop? lepr Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 Ancient bug. When grouping objects that are already members of different rotated Groups, the transform mathematics is not correctly calculated. Working around it is a matter of cutting an object from its containing Group and pasting inside the containing Group of another object. edee 1 Quote
edee Posted March 18, 2023 Author Posted March 18, 2023 @firstdefence Thank you for your response. It happens in nearly every file I am working in now. The thing is, if I close and reopen the same file, it may not do it. Sometimes just deselecting and reselecting all the same parts will give a different result. @,,, (for some reason, I am not seeing the members username or image) Thank you for your response. That makes sense. Now I think about it, it could be parts from different groups where I have rotated part of a group using the 'transform origin' feature (that icon that looks like a target). Do you know why it only happens sometimes using all the same bits? It's not important really, more curiosity. If I close that file and reopen the file, select the same bits, it may group perfectly. Just deselecting all the bits and reselecting all the same bits may stop it from happening - probably 50% of the time. Thank you both. I've not studied the phenomenon very closely and I rarely work in a way that it will manifest. Hopefully, someone more experienced will join the discussion with explanations for you. edee 1 Quote

StuartRc Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 I have been experiencing something similar recently. Not sure of the direct cause but I have been thinking it is something the do with the relative positions in the layers panel. You could try: Select the groupings and copy paste so that they are adjacent to each other in layers. Then regroup to see if solves it Could be to do with artefacts Could be to do with orientation A similar issue occurs when you can no longer draw on a raster object outside a bounding box Or When jumps occur when trying to group mixed (Raster | Vector objects). In this case I just rasterize the object! edee 1 Quote Affinity Version 1 (10.6) Affinity Version 2.6.0 All (Designer | Photo | Publisher) Beta; 2.6.2.3187 OS:Windows 10 Pro 22H2 OS Build 19045.5371+ Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19060.1000.0 Rig:AMD FX 8350 and AMD Radeon (R9 380 Series) Settings Version 21.04.01 Radeon Settings Version 2020 20.1.03) + Wacom Intuous 4M with driver 6.3.41-1

As usual, "NotMyFault" felt innocent and pointed to "whoiswho". «Who cares?» asked "¿". walt.farrell, edee and debraspicher 3 Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
