I want to change the text font, size, and color in a large document but I want to KEEP the current text (aka I want the sentence "I went to the store" to still say "I went to the store" after I apply font, size, and color changes to text).

How do I make these changes in the master without affecting the current text?

Thank you for your time. I've been looking for and trying various solutions. I feel like it's gonna be one of those things right in front of me that I can't see anymore because I've been looking for so long.

Once you have added text to a document page, you cannot change its characteristics by changing something on a Master Page.

You'll have to select the actual text and change the formating on the document page. Or use Find and Replace.

The Text Styles Panel could be the missing part here. If you create + save a style there, then you can assign it to any instance. Also a change of its properties at one spot in the layout will change it for all instances across the entire document.

Nevertheless, Walt's hint to the relationship between a master object and its modified instances is valid.
