DarkClown Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 I really wonder why you can't assign any cell attribute (e.g. font) to an empty(!) table cell. This can only be done when the cell contains text. So once you start a tabe every cell will start with "Arial" (hell knows why - mybe you can change the standards somewhere?) and no other style (e.g. bold or italic). So eventually you have to change the style of each cell AFTER you entered content. What sounds ridiculous to me. I would expect to select the whole table (or specific cells) and assign font and style regardles of the content is (even empty) .... and if I add text later this will be with the previously assigned style. But maybe I got something completetly wrong. Old Bruce Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 I could be wrong but I thought that tables use whichever Text Style is chosen for Paragraphs and Characters. Default would be whatever you have set up to be the [No Style]. Yes, I wondered that but table formatting is a dark art it seems. Best I can suggest is to edit the table style. Here I've done that first then entered text into the cells, I hope you like Courier rather than the dreaded Arial 🙂 Bugger, it looks like Old Bruce has beaten me, anyway, I'm going to click submit regardless debraspicher and laurent32 1 1 Quote Microsoft Windows 11 Home, Intel i7-1360P 2.20 GHz, 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Intel Iris Xe Affinity Photo - 24/05/20, Affinity Publisher - 06/12/20, KTM Superduke - 27/09/10

The table will be initialised with text style 'Table Body'. A few options: select the table with Move Tool and change the font in context toolbar edit text style 'Table Body' create new styles for particular ranges of cells and apply the styles to empty or filled cells Quote
firstdefence Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 You can save the table formats in the Table Format Panel, you can also save any formatting as a default format in the same panel. StuartRc Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 I thought you could.. 1. Select the Table Tool 2. Select all Cells 3. Assign your typeface (Using context bar) 4. Once finished assign the text formatting to a new style and name it. or 1. Create new Format (Just give it a name!) 2. Select all cells on left Display formatting panel 3. Assign a Style (defined or created 4. When you create a new table with table tool just assign the format D.Usagi.75 1 Quote Affinity Version 1 (10.6) Affinity Version 2.6.0 All (Designer | Photo | Publisher) Beta; 2.6.2.3187 OS:Windows 10 Pro 22H2 OS Build 19045.5371+ Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19060.1000.0 Rig:AMD FX 8350 and AMD Radeon (R9 380 Series) Settings Version 21.04.01 Radeon Settings Version 2020 20.1.03) + Wacom Intuous 4M with driver 6.3.41-1
DarkClown Posted March 18, 2023 Author Posted March 18, 2023 Thx everyone ... I spend quite some time experimenting ... just to wrap it up: It all makes somehow sense - but there's no "easy" way as... 🙂 you might be used to. It's all about the "defining templates (styles)" and assigning them. (not this childisch intuitive "Select and assign") ... this is more like a pain pill ... it has to hurt before the relaxation comes 🙂 Quote i7-12700KF, 3.60 GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, Wacom Intuos 4 Tablet, Windows 11 Pro - AP, AD and APublisher V1 and V2https://www.timobierbaum.com
