Hi All

I'm running into an annoying problem and I wonder if this can be fixed trough the settings. I searched in the prefs and can't find anything about it.

When importing text, or typing directly into a (new) textbox, My text is rich black CMYK (see my screen dump) and I don't want that. Normally when I type in another Publishing program (quarkX-press/Pagemaker/indesign/etc.) the text is 100% black and not CMYK build up. How can I fix this in the preferences?

Greetings from The Netherlands,

Rob Heckers

Hi Robboxxx,
Welcome to the forums,

When I create a new text box here the colours are automatically 100%K black. Are you importing your file into Affinity Publisher or creating it from scratch? If you create a new file and then place a text box in it what are the default values in the colour panel?

Thanks
C

In an RGB document with CMYK sliders and the padlock enabled in the Colour panel, rich black is what I'd expect the sliders to show for new text because the black will really be RGB(0, 0, 0).

Is your document definitely CMYK?

As far as I can see it is CMYK. take a look at the attached screen dump.

Yes, CMYK.

There's another thing to consider, though. If you first create the document as RGB then convert it to CMYK, even before putting content in the document, subsequent new text will be RGB(0, 0, 0) instead of 100% black and it will be reported as rich black in Colour panel with CMYK sliders and padlock enabled.

Is it possible you started the document as RGB and then converted to CMYK before starting to add text to it?

Anyway, to ensure future new text with style '[No Style]' is 100% black in your problem CMYK document, try doing Edit > Defaults > Factory Reset.
