The time taken to expand dashed strokes using Layer > Expand Stroke gradually increases as the second dash value decreases eventually causing Affinity Designer to hang when the value is 0.1 or lower. This becomes more noticable when the second dash setting is around 0.4 and below. When we reach a setting of 0.1 the spinning beach ball is invoked as Designer hangs but that doesn't appear in the screen recording itself as Quicktime doesn't record it.

Note: Designer hangs but doesn’t crash so there is no crash report generated… this results in having to Force Quit Designer.

An issue raised in this thread ("Time Taken to Expand Dashed Strokes Gradually Increases as Second Dash Value Decreases Eventually Causing Designer To Hang") has now been reported to the developers by the testing team (Ref: AFD-6485). Thank you very much for reporting this issue to us.

The issue "Time Taken to Expand Dashed Strokes Gradually Increases as Second Dash Value Decreases Eventually Causing Designer To Hang" (REF: AFD-6485) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.1.0.1742/3".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
