Simon Fraser Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Using Version 2.04 Every time I try and work on this file there's a crash My workflow involves importing linework from Clip Studio Paint via .PSD files. This gives me a file that I can work on for a few minutes then the interface stops working . I can still save the file with CTRL S , but otherwise it's a lost cause. This happens with every file I've tested , this is an example of the files I'm using. https://www.dropbox.com/s/lolals259essc7x/TCitB2-3-emergency.psd?dl=0 Windows 10 Pro Version 21H2 Os Build 19044.2604 on an Intel Xeon E5-1630 v4 @ 3.70GHz 32GB RAM Hardware acceleration is not supported with my graphics card Nvidia Quadro K5200 I'm editing the document then I lose all the Menu controls. The input still works via the keyboard Ctrl S still saves the Doc. Screenshots (https://www.dropbox.com/s/d3b1aatfs1nvsff/Screenshot 2023-03-07 15.47.41.jpg?dl=0 Any unusual hardware ? An XP-Pen pen display tablet . I've been having a lot of trouble with Version 2.0 , it's not as stable as 1.0. It won't let me save into my Dropbox, which is a major headache. This is just the latest in a series of hangs and crashes that have happened. This is the first one I could reproduce reliably. I'll be shifting my workflow back to Affinity Photo 1.10.5.1342 until I see some improvement. Thanks for you attention to this matter. Simon Fraser. Quote
Hangman Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Hi @Simon Fraser and welcome to the forums... I've had a play with your file on Mac in 2.0.4 and there is nothing obviously wrong with the file and I'm having no problems with it at all and no problem saving it to my Dropbox... One thing you could try, if you haven't already, is to do a factory reset of Photo by holding the Ctrl key when launching Photo. When the clear user settings dialogue window pops up click OK and let Photo reboot, note that doing this means you will lose any custom settings you've made to the Photo UI like keyboard shortcuts, palette layouts, tool menu and toolbar customisation etc.,, so you will need to potentially reset these... Simon Fraser Posted March 8, 2023 Author Posted March 8, 2023 Thanks for looking at that. I've done the reset and so far it's looking good. I'll stress test it during the day and see how it goes. Much obliged. S. Quote

Dan C Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Welcome to the Affinity Forums & thanks for confirming this @Simon Fraser! I too have been testing with your PSD file and I'm yet to replicate the issue reported - so I certainly hope that this reset has resolved the issue for you, but should you have any further issues please don't hesitate to let us know Quote
Simon Fraser Posted March 12, 2023 Author Posted March 12, 2023 Hi, So far no repeat of the crashes , but I still can't save reliably into a DropBox folder. Sometimes it works , mostly it doesn't. This was a problem with Affinity 1.0 as well , though not as severe as with 2.0. I'm assuming that there's some conflict with Dropbox updating its folders while Affinity is doing it's thing and they conflict in some way. It's frustrating as I do all my work into a Dropbox folder by default. Quote
Dan C Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Thanks for letting me know Simon and I'm sorry to hear this - our developers recommend opening/saving documents from local locations, then saving a copy of your documents in Cloud locations for backup purposes due to how the Affinity apps load/save files, prioritising speed. I hope this clears things up! Quote
Simon Fraser Posted March 14, 2023 Author Posted March 14, 2023 Hey Dan. Thanks , but that's what I'm doing already. It's an annoying extra stage that I'd rather not have to do. For the record if there was a switch that turned off fast saving and allowed Dropbox to do it's thing, I'd be very happy. Cheers Quote
