j3rry Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 I had a very strange effect today while working with Affinity Photo 2.0.4. latest version on the M1 Mac. In the middle of working I wanted to select a brush to grind a selection with it. Although the toolbar showed that I had selected the brush, only the hand was on the cursor and I could not paint. After several attempts to repair the situation (selecting other tools ...), the only thing that helped was to save the file and quit Affinity Photo. After restarting and reloading the file, I could continue working as usual. So nothing was lost but I found the process quite strange. Maybe there is a tip from Serif how to proceed in such cases to help the developers to eliminate such race conditions ? I've had similar misbehaviour a few times, so today I thought I'd ask... Dan C Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 Hi @j3rry, Thanks for your report! As far as I'm aware, this isn't an issue I've seen reported before and not one I've encountered personally - though I do tend to use Windows more than macOS. Just to confirm, was this issue happening with the Selection Brush Tool, or with the Paint Brush Tool within a selection? Has this occurred in multiple documents sporadically, or only within one file? Without (yet) being able to replicate this issue it's difficult to provide exact suggestions, but from the sounds of it I would likely have recommended the steps you took, in closing the app and reopening (perhaps even restarting your mac in between). If this issue occurs again, a screen recording showing this behaviour would certainly help our team to understand the issue. If you're unsure how to take a screen recording, please check out our FAQ linked below - Many thanks in advance! j3rry 1 Quote

Dan C Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 Thanks for verifying that for me - I've been testing this further here in a few documents and have yet been able to replicate this. My first thought is that the Spacebar may have been accidentally held down, or the app was detecting the spacebar in the 'pressed' position and reloading the document resolved this. Should this occur again, we look forward to hearing from you j3rry 1 Quote
