[2.0.4] Document icons have a black border around them

Recommended Posts

A purely cosmetic bug, but document icons have a black border around them. It seems like the black area should be transparent, but instead is black. Happens in all Affinity apps. They are installed from the Microsoft Store, that bit of info might help track it down. Also, a better file description beyond "AFDESIGN File" would be nice.

Thanks!

Hi LCamachoDesign,

I asked our QA team about this issue and they stated that this is caused by the Colors setting you have applied at OS level seen in the below screenshot. Does changing these settings prevent these issues?

Thanks

I don't quite understand, should my colour settings be like what's on your screenshot? Or should they be the opposite of the screenshot?

In any case, all other icons for other apps work fine, and I like the settings as I have, so I'm not going to change them for this minor issue. I'm willing to try them temporarily on Monday to see if that's the cause. In any case, it would look better if fixed from your side anyway.

Thanks!

Bumping this to let you know it's still happening in 2.1.1 and literally all other document icons from all other apps I have installed do not have this problem.

Also, none of the options you listed on your workaround @Callum would work as they simply do not exist anymore. These were for Windows 10, and I'm on Windows 11 (and was on 11 too at the time of my OP) where they no longer exist.

Thanks!

Just to let you know this is still happening, and only in Affinity apps. No other apps have this problem, so I'm not changing system settings just for this. Can you please look up what's wrong with your icons? More importantly, whatever happened to the mini icon over the file explorer thumbnails? Attached is an example of how Blender does it. Affinity used to do this as well, but somewhere along the way this was lost, and it never came back. So now, when we export a PNG file next to the source file, both thumbnails look exactly the same. The only way to tell them apart is by hovering the file and waiting for Explorer to say what file type it is.

Thanks!
