LauraKP Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Hello, I purchased Affinity Publisher 2 weeks ago. When it first opened it worked fine. Now, it will not open. I click on it and it opens but closes before I can log on. I have uninstalled and reinstalled in 10 plus times. I have held the CTRL to clear the settings, I did a repair .net thing (sorry I am not a tech person), updated my intel driver, ran an SFC scan, and checked permissions. I have no clue what else to try as I am not a tech person. I cannot open this at all and I have a class I am taking that I need it for. Quote
walt.farrell Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. It sounds like the application is crashing, so it would be useful to look for crash reports, and possibly to look in the Windows Event Log. As the crash reports are easier to find for a non-technical user, I would suggest starting with them. The FAQ below will tell you where to find them: Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Laptop 2: Windows 11 Pro 24H2, 16GB memory, Snapdragon(R) X Elite - X1E80100 - Qualcomm(R) Oryon(TM) 12 Core CPU 4.01 GHz, Qualcomm(R) Adreno(TM) X1-85 GPU iPad: iPad Pro M1, 12.9": iPadOS 18.3.1, Apple Pencil 2, Magic Keyboard Mac: 2023 M2 MacBook Air 15", 16GB memory, macOS Sequoia 15.0.1
RichardMH Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 You could try the beta and see if its something they have fixed. Quote

walt.farrell Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Thanks, @LauraKP. I am not experienced enough at Windows dump reading to make much sense from that, but it may help someone else provide assistance. LauraKP Posted March 3, 2023 Author Posted March 3, 2023 @walt.farrell thank you for your reply and assistance as I really appreciate it. I am going to update to Windows 11 and see if that helps. Quote
Staff stokerg Posted March 6, 2023 Staff Posted March 6, 2023 Hi @LauraKP, Sadly the crash report didn't really contain anything helpful. I notice you are using the MSIX install of Publisher, could you uninstall that version and reinstall Publisher using the MSI/EXE version and see if you have any trouble starting that up. You can download the MSI/EXE version by visiting this link and clicking where it states 'Also available: Download latest version EXE (565.66MB)' once thats downloaded, install it as normal and try starting Affinity and let me know the results.
