Designer V2 is crashing on the ipad when I attempt to open a file with an embedded pdf that was embedded on mac.

I am using 2.0.4 on both iPad (16.3.1) and Ventura (13.2.1).

I can reproduce this as follows:

ON THE MAC create a new, blank document.  I used "Letter".  Place a pdf file (embedded) in the designer document.  Save the designer file.

ON THE iPAD attempt to open the document saved from the mac.  Designer v2 crashes.

Some other observations:

I first noticed this bug when I added pdf files to a designer document I had started on the iPad.

The file opens just fine on the mac.

If I remove the pdf file on the mac, the file will open on the ipad.

What I expect to happen should be obvious.  It would be nice to have the file open on the ipad so I can edit it etc.

Please let me know if you need me to upload an example file.  I tried it with brand new files and various pdfs from different sources.

Hi @crumbletopand welcome to the forums…

If you could upload the pdf file that would be really helpful and then we can see if there are any obvious issues that might be causing the crash…

And thanks for the welcome!  I LOVE Designer :)

One other observation.  If I place the very same pdfs using the ipad, the file opens on ipad and mac.

Hope that helps.

Hi @crumbletop,

Welcome to the Affinity Forums & thanks for your report!

I can confirm that I've been able to replicate this issue here, it appears to be due to the PDF having multiple pages and being imported as 'Artboards' in Designer - therefore I've logged this as a bug with our developers to be investigated and resolved ASAP.

I hope this helps, many thanks for your kind feedback here also :)

Thank you, @Dan C.  Adding the very same pdf using the ipad works just fine, so perhaps the problem is with the Mac version.  This is my current workaround.  I'm glad you were able to reproduce the issue and it is logged for fixing!  Thanks again!
