Affinity Photo 2.04 Pasting Device Independant Bitmap

Doc_WP

Recommended Posts

Something has changed and gone wrong with pasting Device Independant Bitmap in Photo 2

Steps to reproduce:

Open a Bitmap in Affinity Photo 2

Copy to Clipboard

Go to File - New and create an empty sheet

Go to Edit - Paste special

Choose Device Independant Bitmap or Device Independant Bitmap V5

The image will be pasted but you can’t see it

Other items like Portable Document Format or PNG will paste as expected

If I copy to clipboard from other Apps I have sometimes only Device Indepentant Bitmaps and can not paste it to Photo 2. No problems at all pasting it with Affinity Photo 1.

Hi Doc_WP

Please could you provide a copy of one of the BMP files you are using as I don't seem to get this problem here when I try this.

Thanks

I see the same thing.  The clipboard in Affinity Photo V2 is pretty broken.

Issue 1 (This Issue):
When copy and pasting from a document in Affinity Photo, to another document in Affinity Photo and using [Edit > Paste Special], when pasting as "Device Independent Bitmap" or "Device Independent Bitmap V5", it pastes as an empty image.

Video A

Issue 2 (Reported HERE):
When copy and pasting from the "Print Screen" button on the keyboard and using [Edit > Paste Special], Affinity Photo adds some bytes of data to the start of the bitmap data when pasting as "Device Independent Bitmap V5" (although not with the older "Device Independent Bitmap").  This causes the image data to shift right by three pixels (drawing from left-to-right, bottom-to-top) and making the right-side of the pasted data wrap to the left-side.

Issue 3 (Reported HERE):
When copy and pasting from a document in Affinity Photo, to another document in Affinity Photo using [Edit > Paste Special] and pasting as "Serif Persona Nodes" (the proprietary Affinity format used by default when copying and pasting between Affinity apps), it doesn't automatically convert the pasted image from say RGBA/8 to RGBA/32.

The issue "Device Independent Bitmap paste is empty if copied from Affinity" (REF: AFP-6191) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.2.0.1857".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.

Unfortunately the problem ist only partially solved. If i copy the bitmap from Affinity Photo to clipboard, it will paste correctly.
But if I copy from a different source (in my case PhotoFiltre), which only copies in device independant bitmap format, the problem is the same when pastint to Affinity.

@Serif Info Bot No such problems with Affinity Photo 1
