Starpugs Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Hi, I am a scientific field worker who works with GraphPad prism a lot. You may hear about this software. Anyway, I found when I pasting charts from Graphpad prism to AD2, the STROKE width always went wrong. But the same thing never happend when I pasting to AI. I have attached specific pictures you can refer to. I believe this is a small problem, can you please tell me if it can be solved quickly? This is causing me to be completely unable to work with AD2. This one is what happened when I pasted things to AD2, you can see the stroke went wrong before I did anything. and this one is the same chart in AI, nothing unnormal. Quote
v_kyr Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 I don't see much differences, or don't know where to look concrete here. Maybe encircling the areas of interest in red where to look after in comparison would be hellpful in order to see what you mean. Other than that there's probably a difference in doc size resolution, aka 72 DPI vs 96 DPI here when copying/pasting for the apps. Scale both to the same size for a better visual determination of the stroke size differences. Or even better export from both apps AI/ADe as SVG and check (compare) inside the SVG file within a texteditor the concrete stroke size values and the amount of difference here. The svg image has been attached, the strokes in the original file in Prism are set to 1 pt The strokes of a pt chart copied to AD2 become 0.5 pt, while in AI they remain 1 pt. Also, when setting stroke thickness for groups, AI does not set strokes for text objects, yet AD2 sets strokes for text objects by default. This is really annoying. In that "Straight form prism.pdf" file the line and rect-curves strokes are always 1.4 px. In the "AD2.svg" file the clip-path transforms have other stroke sizes, everything else looks Ok stroke wise and has 1.44 px. And there aren't any strokes applied to the text portions there. If you import that "Straight form prism.pdf" file into ADe and export as SVG from inside of ADe, then the reviewed and generated SVG code looks Ok in terms of stroke-sizes etc. - You maybe better might export instead from that Graphpad app as PDF/SVG and then reimport that into ADe. However, compared with AI, I can copy and paste directly from Prism without making mistakes. This operation is really troublesome. I often need to make subtle adjustments in prism and then copy and paste them repeatedly into my ADe/AI. If I always need to export PDF first and then import to ADe, it is impossible for me to use it. May you have the plan to make it easier to copy and paste directly from Prism in the future? Quote

Maybe, I can't tell how their agenda (todo list) looks like in terms of fixing SVG parser & generator, copy & paste between apps ... etc. looks like. - You can file in another bug report related to wrong SVG copy/paste handling, though AFAI recall there are already several in this regard.
