jackwright Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 (edited) Apoligise for the potentially noob question here, but I have tried searching for a while on how to round the corners of this simple triangle shape in Affinity Photo 2. Am I going crazy, this is such a simple feature that I usually find within seconds. Yet, the only shape that seems to have this feature is the rounded rectangle and Google does not seem to provide any answers. How can I round the corners of this triangle? Thanks, Jack Edited February 26, 2023 by jackwright Specify Affinity Photo 2 Quote
Hangman Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Hi @jackwright and welcome to the forums... Select the Corner tool from the toolbar on the left, this will allow you to click drag the nodes and create rounded corners... jackwright Posted February 26, 2023 Author Posted February 26, 2023 (edited) Ah thanks @Hangman sorry I forgot to specify I am using Affinity Photo 2. Seems to have disappeared! Edited February 26, 2023 by jackwright Quote
Hangman Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 In which case you won't have that option... if you have Designer as well you could select Edit in Designer from the file menu, edit your shape and then Edit in Photo to continue your edit... jackwright Posted February 26, 2023 Author Posted February 26, 2023 I cannot believe that 🤯 what was so simple in v1, now requires to pieces of software. Might as well switch back to v1 at this rate. Thanks for the help Hangman, at least it proves I am not crazy! Quote
jackwright Posted February 26, 2023 Author Posted February 26, 2023 Ok I have Affinity Designer v1 on my machine, do I need Designer 2 to be able to edit this shape, as the option is greyed out? Quote

Yes, if you're working in Photo V2 you would need Designer V2 as well... You could install the trial version as a workaround perhaps... The Triangle Tool in Photo (either version) has no provision for rounded corners. 2 minutes ago, jackwright said: do I need Designer 2 to be able to edit this shape, as the option is greyed out? Yes, you need Designer 2 if you want to invoke it directly from Photo 2. Or if you want to open .afphoto files saved by Photo 2. That functionality of being able to round the corners of a Triangle in Photo version one does not exist in Photo or Photo 2. It is (and was), as you stated in your first post, available only for the rectangle shapes. jackwright Posted February 26, 2023 Author Posted February 26, 2023 (edited) Thanks guys yes I think you're all right, I don't use v1 often but all of the resources online, showing the corner tool etc. led me to believe it was possible. Maybe it was a Photoshop patent or something that's caused this feature to be missing but I might use the trial for the time being. Thanks! Edited February 26, 2023 by jackwright Quote
Old Bruce Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 About the only thing I can think of is to use a stroke. jackwright Posted February 26, 2023 Author Posted February 26, 2023 Yes I think the stroke will get me by for the time being! Thanks Bruce 👍 I am only designing a simple theme/skin for a game I play, nothing professional or crazy! Quote
Kal Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 It would also be useful if the polygon tool had a rounded corner option. I'd use that more than the 'curve' option it has currently, which produces bloated looking shapes. Nine times out of ten we want a rounded triangle: Not a guitar pick: Quote
NotMyFault Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 The contour tool in Designer works with all shapes. But decrease size of base shape by the radius of contour. R C-R Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 @jackwright, assuming you have Affinity Designer V1, won't the Corner Tool do what you want? V1 Corner Tool on poly (with History).afdesign Of course, it does change the polygon to a curve, so is that something you are trying to avoid?
