First off, I'm loving Affinity Designer 2! Thank you Serif :)

I've recently been working quite a bit with gradients and have some thoughts on improving the feature. As it is right now you have to click on the Fill colour in the context toolbar or Appearance tab to get a more detailed gradient view.

There are two issues.

1). The gradient view closes if you click outside of the view.

2). The gradient view is very small (especially the colour range) and it's impossible picking a specific node in the range if you have many.

A solution to this would be to have a seperate Gradient tab (just like Colour/Swatches/Strokes/etc). This would allow for a clearer and larger view of all the gradient settings. It would even be great if each node could be selected from a list allowing for more control over how the gradient looks.

Just my thoughts :)

It would also be nice to have the options related to the selected gradient stop added directly to the context toolbar when using the fill tool (position, midpoint, color, opacity, etc.)

+1 Yes!

Actually, with the color panel being readily available already, I think it is only position and midpoint that would really need to be added to the context toolbar to make this work.

It would also be nice if you could select multiple stops and use the distribution options from the alignment panel on them.  Actually, looking at it, those options don't seem to be available on curve nodes when using the node tool either, which seems a rather curious omission...

Not just that.
Also the "physical" length and angle of the gradient.

And vice versa, especially the angle value is missing from the popup ("flyout"?) panel. This becomes obvious if you try to change the gradient angle of a Text Frame fill or Paragraph Decoration in Publisher: You can't! It's only left to right or right to left. Duh.
