As the sandbox creates many problems with regard to file management it would be nice to have a viewer app.

This app should:

  • not have a big memory footprint, ie links only
  • show variable sized icons that could be sorted or grouped.
  • would link the icon in the app to outside of the sandbox to the file where ever it was located.

Essentially this app would be like a file manager with larger sortable icons, and meta data display.

Photoshopused to have a helper app called Bridge, I think it served this kind of function for Adobe Suite.

Which OS are you talking about here?

MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2

Hm… since the Live Docs section – as its name in fact hints at – is not meant to be the "final" document storage place, I don't really see the problem here.
To actually manage your documents, you save ("move" in the current terminology) them to the storage place of your choice, be it on the iPad itself, in iCloud, or to any other available cloud service. (Personally I use pCloud for seamless document and other exchange between my Macs and iPad. Works like a charm, as it also seamlessly integrates into Apple's Files app.)
