Using an iMac Pro with Monterey 12.6.3 and Mac Mini M1 with Ventura 13.1 running Affinity Photo 2.1.0 1709 beta and also tested on Affinity Photo 2.0 I have issues with Fujifilm GFX 50S II and Fujifilm X-H2 RAW images after importing to Affinity, they are almost unusable as can be seen from the pics attached, yes of course you can use the development tools to change the image looks but the end results are less than acceptable, so much that I chose not to use the app any further, to me it is was a poor investment I can't believe this is still happening in the latest release, or is it just me than can't import a simple photo and display it as it should be.

If you can upload the RAW file of the image above, others can "test" it for you

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

@fujifan888888, your image uses multi-pattern exposure metering in Aperture Priority mode which can sometimes be fooled into under or overexposing by a predominance of white or black in the frame.

I could be completely wrong but the image simply looks underexposed by around 1.5 stops. If I pull the exposure up by 1.5 stops in the Develop Persona the histogram pretty much reflects that of the histogram when opening the file in Capture One.

Capture One | Affinity Photo with Exposure Increased by 1.5 stops

The other question is, which options do you have set in the Affinity Photo Develop Assistant, e.g.,

  • Are you using the Apple or Serif RAW Engine
  • Do you have a Tone Curve applied

Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0
MacBook Pro M3 Max, 36 GB Unified Memory, macOS Sonoma 14.6.1, Magic Mouse
HP ENVY x360, 8 GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, Windows 10 Home, Logitech Mouse

Hi appreciate your work in looking for a solution to the issue, yes the 1.5 stops of exposure looks like a work around I have used both Apple and Serif RAW engines seems to make no difference and the uploaded file is totally untouched so no tone cure or any options applied to the image you have downloaded although both Capture One 22 and Affinity photo 2.1 must do some work on the image as it is imported into the application, this is where I suspect the difference in the two apps has the effect on the displayed image as shown in my two sample crops above.

cheers

The issue "Fuji Raw File - Histogram looks incorrect" (REF: AFP-5992) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.1.0.1730".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.

Hi so many thanks to the Affinity team for getting a fix for the issue I reported with imported photos from late model Fujifilm cameras becoming very much darker than the original once imported, this was frustrating to say the least and now I am way more impressed with my purchase of Affinity Photo 2 and the latest update is fantastic, proves that feedback can work, thanks again team a great outcome and I am sure many other Fuji fans will be pleased also.
