gw_westdale Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 Does the Beta have the filter forge linkage - I was going to test that if so Quote Win 11 PCs 64bit Envy and Envy tablet + Filter Forge Retired computer systems tester doing graphics for charities and politics etc.
Staff Chris B Posted February 24, 2023 Staff Posted February 24, 2023 I generally install a bunch of plugins, including Filter Forge throughout a beta phase and don't generally hit any issues with them. Are you having any issues with it? Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
gw_westdale Posted February 25, 2023 Author Posted February 25, 2023 I have FF 12 installed and running under Photo V2. Not perfectly - I think there is an issue with the bounding rectangle of the selected item but that is for another day and it is running OK. When I installed the beta V2.1 it did not auto pick up the existing FF. I was obviously reluctant to do a full reinstall of FF just to create the plugin. I copied the FF 12 folder from C:\Users\westd\.affinity\Photo\2.0\Plugins to C:\Users\westd\.affinity\Photo\2.0 (Beta)\Plugins but that does not seem to be enough to trigger the link - Nothing shows in the plugins menu in Photo beta. There may be an issue in that the beta was installed from the EXE as the MX install which failed with a 'something missing' error. Apologies for ignorance ... assistance welcome 🙂 such as where in the Exe version do I copy the FF12 plugin? FURTHER I poked about in the settings of V2.1 beta and discovered that the FF plugin was marked as status Unknown I set the checkbox to allow unknown filters to run and it now works. It seems that one of the two '.affinity' folders above is being picked up. Staff Chris B Posted February 27, 2023 Staff Posted February 27, 2023 At work, I tend to just add the folder that the app installs into, so for example C:\Program FIles\DxO\ for the NIK fulters. I rarely copy paste anything into the C:\Users\xxx\.affinity\Photo\2.0\Plugins folder At home, on my personal computer I just add my C:\Program Files folder and it picks up everything in their own install folders. BTW I use the MSIX installs on my work PC and home PC over the MSI installs and I still don't get any issues so I'm surprised you saw a difference. jussi Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 I'm using original Google's NIK Collection (v1.2.11) and so far no problem with it while using beta. the Filter Forge works also fine in beta, though I had to manually copy files into Plugin folder. adding just the path didn't work, I got error message when started the plugin ..
