Drag and Drop between documents in Affinity Photo

Recommended Posts

Drag and Drop of effects or layer between documents in Affinity Photo V2 still does not work.
That is a pity. I work with it very often, for example to transfer an effect to another document.

Also in Version 2 it still doesn't work that you can move a layer via drag and drop into another document. It worked in version 1. It does work in version 2 only with copy-paste; but if the layer to be copied is very large, it takes forever via the clipboard. Despite my Mac Pro 2019, 96 GB, 24 cores. Can you guys please make this work? That would be a big help! Thank you very much.

The issue "Cannot drag layers from one document to another in V2" (REF: AFP-6020) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.1.0.1728".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.

EDIT: NEVER MIND, SORRY, Barton Fink learned me how to do it.

As far as I can see there's still no way to drag/drop effects and layers between open files in the latest beta 2.1 (the one I downloaded today, March 16). How is this supposed to work?

Separated Mode isn't in v.2, right? (In other words, I did try to RTFM!)

TIA

@nickbatz: You did not properly "tag" the info bot. You need to follow these steps:

  1. type the @ sign
  2. start typing Serif Info Bot and at some point you'll get a popup list of matching names
  3. click on the name in the popup list.
  4. You will then get a highlighted field (like your  name at the start of this post) or like this: @Serif Info Bot

I opened 2 images in Affinity Photo. These were open as a tab. Then I detached one document from the main window so I have the main window and the detached window. On the one image in the detached window I applied an effect. I can drag and drop both the effect and a layer of the detached window into the main window. Tried it a few times and it seems to work fine.
Hope it helps.
