FX Blend Modes are Not Being Applied Correctly in Affinity Photo

Reporting this as a bug in reference to this thread... it only affects Photo, both 2.0.4 and 2.10.1706, it works as expected in both Designer and Publisher.

It also appears to be macOS specific...

V2 Compared to V1

Clicking on the Blend Mode label in the FX panel reveals the effect in V2, it's just not being applied...

Hi @Hangman,

Thanks for reporting this.

This i'm seeing very mixed results on my M1 MacBook Air.  I've got one 1 image, where this just works, another where it doesn't work but in the sample files attached to the linked thread, they open and show the issue for me in V1 and V2, however, if i zoom in and out slightly, i do see the correct effect for a second and then its back to a solid fill outline.  So there is something not right here, just wondering why V1 works for you but not me.  I'm running MacOS Ventura, so that might have something to do with it possibly.  I'll do a bit more poking and get something logged with the Developers :)

Um, that's slightly odd but you could be right as the only difference I can immediately think of is the version of macOS...

Let me know what you discover, it would definitely be interesting to understand why the difference re V1.

Hi @Hangman,

I've just logged this with the Dev team.

It just works on Windows, so should work on MacOS.  I've tried this on my Intel Mac which is also running Ventura and its broke in V1 and V2 for me, so the version of MacOS does seem to come into play.  Hopefully, i'll get some feedback on the report and I can update here with what's going on :)

The issue "Outline Layer Fx with blend mode set to overlay on the Fx isn't being applied correctly, MacOS" (REF: AFP-5986) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.1.0.1720".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.
