Hi,

I hava a problem. Whenever I make a list with numbers, I cannot get equal spacing between them and the text that follows. It will be bigger, or smaller, depending on the amount of text on the row. I have justified left on for the text. Is there a quick fix to get equal spacing between number and the text that folllows, on the same row?

@zachy, Welcome to the forums...

I'm assuming you're working with Affinity Publisher here?

If you show the Frame text ruler (the option is available in the context toolbar or via the View Menu, View > Show Text Ruler and is visible when you have the Frame Text tool selected) and select only the text you wish to apply a tab to, you can then add a Left tab to the text ruler and tab the respective text (using the tab key on your keyboard) which will then align it accordingly like this...

If you are then concerned about the large gaps between numbers with fewer characters and its associated text, you could also set a right tab before the left tab and then tab your numbers to the right tab, so they are ranged right and the assoicated text to the left tab for a more balanced look...

Note: Right clicking a tab in the tab ruler will provide options to allow you to change the justification of the tabs.

You can also add and control tabs using the Paragraph panel...

Do you happen to also know how to get the equally spaced dots (as in a table of contents), without actually using the table of contents tool (only the dots, if necessary)?

You simply add another tab to the text ruler at the point where you'd like your spaced dots to end (again ensuring you have all the relevant text selected first), change the tab stop leader from none to character either by right clicking the newly added tab or in the Paragraph panel...

You can also double click to select the equally spaced dots and change the font size to something smaller to give you a more professional look or change the character from a dot to an underline, strikeout or any character you like...
