HI all,

I'm new to Affinity and I would like to ask you for some advise.

In Affinity Photo on Mac I'm trying to make the wallpaper of my iPhone stand out. I think I need to paste the original wallpaper of the iPhone into the own made photo.

Can anyone help me with the exact steps to take ?

Hope to hear from you guys!

Welcome to the forums @Kylian

I don’t fully understand what you are trying to do.

It sounds like you have a photo of an iPhone and want to replace the phone screen with another image, so it looks like the phone screen in the photo is displaying a different image to that which it is currently displaying.

Is that correct?

If so, can we see the image of the iPhone, and the image you want it to display?
If not, can you give us more details please?

Hi Garry,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, you are describing exactly what we want to do. Let me show you an example of what kind of photo we mean. In this picture you see that the background of the iPhone is very clear. It looks like they pasted the wallpaper into the original photo, so it looks more clear and bright.

I’ve attached a very quick, and crudely-done, video showing one simple way to do what you want with the Selection Brush Tool and Live Perspective Filter.
To get a good effect you will need to take much more time over each step to get it looking just right. Experiment and practice.

Since you can’t see the bottom of the phone you will need to guess where the bottom of the screen is for the perspective transform, which could be tricky.

Hi Garry,

I managed to do it (see enclosed)!

The only problem are the edges of the phone, they are not straight, but a little bit grainy. Do you know how to get them straight and sharp?

Hope to hear!

Nice work.

I think you might not want to actually get the edges to be ‘sharp’ (that might look worse) but probably need them to be slightly ‘fuzzy’ so that the screen image 'blends' a little more with the case.
One way to get the edges nicer would be to feather them during the selection process.
It might take some experimentation but once you’ve got it right it’s done for the next time you need to use the same template.

There will be other ways that other people might talk about.

Use the pen tool to make a clipping mask to get a nice clean edge, simply nest the image inside the pen tool created curve.
