Situation:
Heidelberg Signa Station (and i guess any imposition tool) is using the PDFs trimbox as positioning default.
This requires
-    a trim box sized like the desired final format
-    a bleed value larger than the trim box.

Affinity Problem:
If the PDF export of Designer and Publisher is set to „include Bleed“ , the trim box equal to the bleed box.

See Screenshots and PDF files:
1.    PDFExport_Bleed included
Bleed ok to aviod cut problems.
    Problem:
Trim box is set to 100mm +3mm.
This PDF cannot be placed by industrial workflows or automatted imposition software.

2.    PDFExport_BleedNOTincluded
Trim box ok, 100x100 mm like final format.
    Problem:
    No bleed available

3.    PDF_Bleed+Trimbox as required

Affinity Designer and Publisher 2.0.4
Mac or Windows doesn’t matter
Reproducable.

I'm not seeing that, unless I'm missing something...

  1. I create a 300dpi, 100mm x 100mm Document with a 3mm Bleed in either Affinity Designer or Affinity Publisher.
  2. I add a rectangle with a Width and Height of 106mm and offset both its X and Y coordinates by -3mm.
  3. I export the document as a PDF file.
  4. I check the EXIF Data and it shows the following...
    • MediaBox Offset - 0pt, 0pt | MediaBox - 344.688pt, 344.688pt
    • BleedBox Offset - 22pt, 22pt | BleedBox - 300.688pt, 300.688pt
    • TrimBox Offset - 30.5039pt, 30.5039pt | TrimBox - 283.6801pt, 283.6801pt

EXIF Data

If I place the exported PDF in a new Publisher document and view the MediaBox, BleedBox and TrimBox they all appear to be correctly positioned... This doesn't seem to indicate that the Trim and Bleed boxes are equal...

Hallo Hangman, thank you for the effort you spent.

You are right, there is no bug in the Affinity PDFs. The placement in my Signa Station is perfect, if i check "include Bleed" in the export dialog.

The error was on my side, it's the tool i use to check the PDF geometry boxes.  Excuse me, i should have checked positioning instead of trusting to my tool. Positioning is OK!

That's great news, I'm glad to hear all is good after all and that the issue doesn't lie with the PDF's generated by Affinity apps.
