Red Al Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 1) I would like to scale images "in" the frame. This function does not exist (Touch image "in" frame and then scale it as you like) 2. why is there a button "fit image frame size to content" in the menu bar? but no button "Fit content to image frame, which is much more important? Please create it. Thanks Mack OS Monterey Quote

Or double click the contents of the frame to select the image layer (or select it through the Layers panel) and then scale the the image's size handles. To scale an image with the frame if you're using None for content scaling (see below), drag the outer bottom right handle. This handle will only appear when None scaling is chosen. 3 minutes ago, Red Al said: 2. why is there a button "fit image frame size to content" in the menu bar? but no button "Fit content to image frame, which is much more important? Red Al Posted February 12, 2023 Author Posted February 12, 2023 Hi Mike, thank you for responding so quickly to my suggestions for improving Affinity Puplisher, but unfortunately they are just descriptions of "workarounds" we all know already. But great that you are doing this. All following answers are not meant personally but directed to Serif! To point 1.) who understands the frame as a fixed part of a layout and sees it in its format and position as a "default" is only shabbily rewarded by the current workarounds. It is important as a creative to be able to work freely and therefore there simply must be a handle, where I can touch and scale the image "in" the frame from any side. This is a "must" for fast, effective work. Why should we do this in a palette instead of a short simple Shortcut key (alt key or whatever)? Regarding point 2.) Basically you can do it this way, but the problem is - after the action "scale to max fit" the frame has a new configuration and this configuration brings consequences that are restrictive and completely disrupt the workflow you had before with this frame. To prevent this, you then have to reconfigure the frame again and click "None" at the bottom. This brings us back to the same "Affinity Publisher problem": restrictive, cumbersome, time-consuming. Dear developers of Serif: let us work freely, as we have been doing for years in other design programs and don't be so restrictive. You don't have to reinvent the world anymore, you can only improve it. P.S. in the forum there are several who also describe this problem bsx 1 Quote

Agreed and it has been requested many times. The use of a popup from the Context Bar means it's not accessible. The context menu provides only some of the picture frame scaling options, not all of them, and again keyboard shortcuts can't be assigned. IMO, Publisher needs a Picture Frame panel. Thanks Mostly because we would wind up with this from the initial placement. I had already tried something like this but somehow it did not work when the subject is almost as big as the frame, then the grippers can cover.... The following problems are solved now: 1.) Scale image in frame (touch and scale image in frame without Affinity restrictions): ctrl+click and drag on any side. 2.) change & drag the frame without the subject moving: A: set the frame properties to "None" in the settings. B: Change the Document in general: Menu—> File—> „Document Setup“—> in the tab Scale—> Position—> to Rescale, Resample-> to Bilinear. Then all frames in this document will go up with this configuration. So you can also build a template. Improvement suggestion to Serif: Please add these settings also to the program settings, then you can solve this problem once for all and all templates. Quote
